Hot Cicada Nacho Grande


Nachos are a food for all occasions. If you’re lazy, if you’re out of “real food,” if you just realized your cat will never love you as much as you love it, nachos are there to comfort you with their blankets of cheese and chip-cradled toppings. Nachos will love you when no one else in this world does.

But we believe that food should challenge and surprise, so we’re upgrading your favorite drunk indulgence. Our cicada nachos add a satisfying crunch to a classic favorite without sacrificing that indulgent taste you love so much. So why not give it a shot? Take that bag of dry-roasted cicadas you’ve got lying around (that’s not just us, right?) and put them to proper use. Pair with a margarita if it’s the weekend (or any of the days in-between) and eat up.

Hot Cicada Nacho Grande

1 pound large corn chips
1 cup of dry-roasted cicadas (can substitute crickets)
2 teaspoons fresh chopped cilantro
¼ cup fresh jalapeño peppers
½ pound shredded cheddar cheese
¼ cup black olives (sliced)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon olive oil

Place dry-roasted cicadas (or crickets) into small bowl. Add olive oil and chili power. Toss lightly with pinch of salt.

On oven-safe pan or microwavable plate put small layer of chips followed by ¼ cup prepared Cicadas, olives, jalapeños, cilantro and cheese. Repeat until there is a mountain of chips. Heat in oven for 20 minutes or until toppings are melted, or place into microwave for 45 seconds to melt cheese. Instagram and enjoy.
