Dark ‘N Stormy Recipe
Do you need another excuse to drink? No? Well we’ll give you one anyway.*
March is quickly approaching, which means spring is FINALLY on its way (…unless you’re in the Midwest or Boston, where spring probably won’t come ‘til May). Warmer weather on the horizon means the anticipation of less layers, more outdoor adventures, hopefully dropping the Netflix 5 (if you didn’t gain weight this winter, then I hate you), and of course more unashamed day drinking.
It goes without saying that we’ve been indulging in the finer spirits all winter, but day drinking seems to be confined to brunch in the colder months, although that could be an illusion. When the weather isn’t frigid as fuck, drinking is extended to tailgates, sporting events, the beach, spring break, and you know, just because it’s a Saturday and it’s sunny out.
It’s not quite sunny or warm yet, but I’m going to pretend it is because I’m sick of hibernating. It doesn’t really matter though, because the Dark & Stormy is a great transitioning drink. The rum will keep you cozy, the ginger beer will remind you of summer shenanigans, and it’s so easy to make. There’s no way you can lose with this drink. If there is, I don’t want to know about it.
The Dark ‘N Stormy
2 ounces Dark Rum
Fill a large glass (highball, Collins, Mason jar, Pyrex measuring cup, whatever) with ice.
Pour in a shot (or two) of Rum.
Top off with ginger beer and garnish with a lime.
Serve immediately and pray to the universe another winter storm doesn’t come.
